Dallas 2012 Trailer


  • As the camera zooms in towards the city we see many modern glass buildings showing wealth and representing todays wealthy soceity.
  • Dramatic non-diegetic score builds up to a crescendo where a modernised version of the old soundtrack kicks in. This is instantly recognised by the audience as the theme tune is so unique.
  • Quick cuts from different story lines creating an interesting and exciting trailer to attract their target audience.
  • All the characters are well presented with their faces well lit up and very well presented showing very wealthy lifestyles.
  • A mixture of ages throughout the clip reinforcing the family feel to the show, "us" and "this family".
  • "I dont want them to be like us", "You will never be a Ewing Christopher!"
  • There is a lot of panning from above and medium close ups and close ups, emphasising emotions and facial expressions.
  • There is also the use of over the shoulder shots and symmetrical shots showing conflicts and conversations.
  • Words flashing up at the start reinforce what the show is all about and what is important.
  • Each shot is no longer than 2-4 seconds long.
  • The weather and mise en scene creates a wealthy environment. Big houses, nice cars and lots of money.
